Geir Henning Hopland is a director and writer from Norway and started his career in NRK (The Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation) in the 90s. He has since become one of Norway’s most productive television drama directors. In the late 2000s, Hopland created, wrote and directed the critically successful TV-series Buzz Aldrin, What Happened To You In All The Confusion? The series was nominated for nine Golden Screens (Gullruten) in Norway, including for best script and direction.
Hopland was conceptual director on Frikjent / Acquitted, the biggest ever launch for TV2, and was again nominated for Best Director at the Golden Screen Awards. Prior to that Hopland directed seven episodes of the biggest drama export and hit show from Norway, Lilyhammer. He has also directed Advokaten, where the concept was developed by The Bridge-creator Hans Rosenfeld and writer Jens Lapidus. In 2019 Hopland directed Magnus, which won “Best Scandinavian Comedy of the Year” at Seriedagene. Hopland has co-written and was conceptual director of Headhunters, a prequel to Jo Nesbø’s bestseller.
